Sunflower Summer

We have a gorgeous black wall in the showroom, where this white barn canvas practically pops off the wall.  It makes quite the statement with white and wood accents white bright yellow sunflowers. 

We recently (personally) purchased a beautiful children's book for our almost back to school first grader called Sunflower Summer  by Wendy Dunham (not an affiliate link, we just love the book and illustrations!) 

We love how summery the sunflowers feel that lend themselves to your early fall displays. 

Hang on just a bit to the last rays of summer and prepare yourself for fall. 

Large sunflower canvases tie the sunflower theme into the other walls of the section without much effort making a beautiful statement. 

Come on out and visit the showroom, to catch a last peek into our summer displays while taking in our fall displays. 

It's hard to believe but we are already unpacking our new Christmas products and getting our brains ready to get our festive displays in place by Labor Day (fingers crossed, we get it accomplished before then)

Fall in the Showroom!

We curated a "home for the holidays" collection, 

featuring a 42"x72" table that extends to 12 foot long to accommodate all the guests that the holidays bring home. 

Whether you are looking forward to it, or wishing summer would choose to stay, we understand :)

(Some of us are anxiously awaiting the cooler weather and fall leaves, while the others are hanging on to every bit of summer possible.)

Can you almost see the joy, hear the laughter, smell the deliciousness, 

and imagine the beauty of a celebratory gathering around the table?!

Every gathering should be attended with grateful hearts.

There is something about the combination of crisp fall weather and deep colors with soft lighting 

that is always inviting and cozy.

and greens for a simple and beautiful centerpiece.

A few ideas we had in this room: 

- Use cloth napkins with different words on them and gift as favors.

- Write a small note to each person, listing one thing about them that you appreciate.

- Vary the cups and table settings slightly, as opposed to making them all identical.

But these are the days we dream about, when the sunlight paints us gold.

Shaker Crib Collection

We just received our replacement shaker crib for the showroom.

With it's weathered stain, this crib is the perfect addition to the modern nursery. 

 The color tones of it's weathered finish accent the grain of oak nicely while keeping a nice warm yet grey tone. 

We have new crib sheets to welcome home the little additions.

Also available in store is an adorable cactus print, and swiss cross pattern and the quote, 

"God knew my heart needed you." 

 See that little stuffed rabbit hanging out at the bottom of the crib?

She is one of the Hazel Village collection that joined us. 

The texture of this woven banner is on point, and the canvas growth chart is an easy way to help you track your child's growth.  You won't need to lose all the memories when moving, or take a door or piece of trim when you move - simply roll up the canvas and take with you.

Atlanta Market 2018

We took a trip to Atlanta, Georgia

for the Atlanta America's Mart for showroom inspiration and new products.

  

One of the joys of a family business is being able to work together, and being able to take our family along on this trip was such a fun treat.  We located a lovely family home via Airbnb to host us. 

Quite literally such a fabulous house the boys wanted to go "home" instead of exploring the city more. We would highly recommend a stay at The Atlanta Family Home. 

 Having the family in town while at Market made it harder to go and work, but it was so great to get to be with them mornings and evenings. 

We didn't get too many photos actually taken, but displays were looking fabulous! We are looking for ways to successfully implement our favorite features into our location. 

 We look forward to adding this stately collection of pottery for our "Home for the Holidays" collection this fall and winter. 

And are already working on ideas for our spring showroom only 6 months away! :) 

Caring for your Hardwood Furniture

All of our furniture is made of quality hardwood. You don't need to be obsessive to take care of hardwood furniture, you only need to care.

Here are several tips for keeping your furniture looking fine for generations.

Humidity Control

- Keep the humidity in your home

  between 40%-60%.

Water Resistant

- Wipe up those spills and condensation,
  don't allow moisture to sit on your
  furniture for an extended period of time.

Water Based Cleaner 

- Keep the chemicals away.
  We suggest wiping your furniture
  with a clean damp cloth and occasionally,
  a water based cleaner and polish.
  We sell our favorite, ask us for a sample.

You will find natural variations on all your furniture purchased at Kings,

such as knots where tree branches grew.

Character markings do not affect the integrity of your furniture

but prove the use of genuine hardwood, with all its charming irregularities.

White Birthday Party

We celebrated Mrs. King's 60th birthday with a white party with a few friends.  

A white party concept is relatively simple, you decorate with white and base food choices around the color scheme.  When you send out invitations let the guests know that they should wear white to party. You could chose to give prizes to the person wearing the most white clothing.

It was so festive seeing so much white contrasting the beautiful woodland backdrop.
