With Christmas quickly approaching, here are several quick snapshots of a recent Christmas Banquet hosted by Mrs. King in her home for the employees from our sister stores Kings Impressions and Metal and Crate.

 The table was beautifully set, and the extra touch with the handwritten menu scrolls was such a fun touch. 

The living room was simple, yet cozy and inviting.

Rough Sawn Collection

 We spent a lot of hours in the showroom this past week brainstorming 

and rearranging to make space for some new products in the near future. 

 These hand forged bracket shelves have been favorites in the showroom, and we are loving how lovely they look above this server. The clock already found a new home, and the bakery sign is the last one available and we won't be able to order them in again. :(

Office Updates

 We are loving the new racks in the Office Section in the showroom. 

It feels like the perfect space to sit down and work on some projects. 

This Lucca Rug is a current favorite, the others in the collection are bright and add a LOT of character. 

We also just added these darling black clipboards and succulents into our collection as well.

They are much more darling in person that photos. 

Strasburg Railroad

Today, we enjoyed watching the countryside from the windows of a train car on the Strasburg Railroad.  I highly recommend waiting until fall to take a train ride in Lancaster Co.  The last time we rode on the train the corn was so tall that most of the ride that's all you saw.  This time around we enjoyed the gorgeous fall weather to the max! 

 As a mother of two boys, I've had my share of trains (particularly Thomas), and with a recent trip to the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania we learned so much more about how trains work and a bit of history. The boys were so excited to watch the train use it's knuckle coupler to join up to the passenger cars - because it's much safer than the pin method. (Thanks Railroad Museum) :) 

Even Laura shared in the excitement of the railroad, obviously her big brothers excitement rubbed off on her too!

Houston Bedroom Collection

This large bed makes quite the impression - and because of it's height this king size bed makes most people think it looks like a queen.  It takes a large home to accommodate this wonder.  

As if this bedroom set isn't amazing enough, each of the case goods has a hidden storage space (optional), and the nightstand has a night light that can be turned on/off by a button on the side. 

It really is a bedroom collection you'll want to see in person to enjoy

Under bed Storage

A bed with convenient storage underneath that saves on floor space is a great investment 

-for a small bedroom, instead of a dresser

-when you don't have a large closet,

-when you need extra storage space, 

or can even act as a close by attic space

 The all drawers have full extension slides so you can easily access all the contents in your drawers. 

We recommend either a hanging nightstand so you can access the top two drawers or to use those drawers for seasonal items. 

You can opt for 6 smaller drawers or 3 deeper drawers per side 

 Under bed storage is available on all our beds, providing you with a variety of styles and allowing you the storage you need.

Lapp Valley Farm

Nestled in the back hills of Lancaster County you'll find one of our favorite farms in the County. 

We say favorite because they serve some of the best ice cream in the county

and we as a family have many fond memories of this place.

My Grusdauddy King would take a weekly trip to Lapp Valley to get milk for the entire clan and deliver it to each family. 

During the Summer if we were lucky enough we even got to go with him on the trip and help deliver milk. 

He always kept his freezer stocked with Lapp's ice cream, and when we visited near a birthday

- we'd get to pick out a bucket of ice cream to take home.

Lapp Valley is a local dairy that has hormone free milk and open to public.

You can watch the Jersey cows being milked, pet several calves, and eat the richest ice cream

you can imagine in a waffle cone made right on the farm. 

The chocolate milk is the thickest you’ll ever taste.

It is definitely worth the trip.

Greenhouses

Spring is here, the flowers are blooming - and it's time to plant flower beds.

Here is a list of our most frequented greenhouses in the area.

Fisher’s Greenhouse

This is our most recent found greenhouse located near Sight and Sound with reasonable prices and lots of variety. Our favorite place to buy succulents.

Horst Greenhouse

1194 E Earl Rd, East Earl, PA 17519   P: 717-354-4825

This greenhouse has good quality plants and we like them for their houseplants. They have a nice variety of house plants and other plants.

Hess Greenhouse

This is a small Amish greenhouse with very personable staff, they are one of Miriam’s favorite greenhouses (along with Fishers) They are only open until June so make a trip soon.

Ken’s Garden

The most frequented greenhouse due to it’s locality, but more than that, they always have the friendliest staff paired with a beautiful variety in household plants, shrubs, and bushes.

Rohrer Seeds

A great place to buy your seed and bird feed. This is where Miriam buys meal worms to feed “her” blue birds.

Shenk’s Greenhouse

This is the best place to buy vegetable plants and herbs at the best price (except for maybe roadside stands).

Wrap around bedroom set

 This bed has been around for quite some time, and one of the first beds we've had. 

Aptly named, because the bed frame wraps around the mattress.

I (Lisa) have memories of this bed (in Provincial stain) as my parent's bed,  and if they were out of stock and a customers wanted one... my dad was known to sell it out of their own bedroom.  My mom would come back to a mattress on the floor.

The wrap around bed has done well, and will be entering into retirement this fall.

So if you've been eyeing it for years, you'll miss it if you wait. Orders will need to be placed before our fall open house to ensure that you get this particular style of bed.

Oceanside Island

In this post we will be featuring the Oceanside Island. 

The Oceanside island is classic with flat panel with a touch of detail in the drawer fronts and doors. 

The Island itself has bun feet to add class and style.

Roseburg Island

The Roseburg Island has a modern raised panels with turned legs.  This island collection is the most like the Turned Leg Islands with a classier flair.
